Meg George

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I provide compassionate and respectful listening and support to clients. My counseling style is warm, caring, and practical; yet also direct and honest. I am dedicated to helping each client feel better and lead a more fulfilling life. I like to focus on the goals each client has in therapy, and ultimately, to help clients experience their own strength and uncover the best versions of themselves.

I am a LGBT+ affirmative therapist who counsels adults and young adults of all backgrounds. I enjoy utilizing evidence-based practices with clients, with an attachment lens, including cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure & response prevention, emotion-focused therapy, relational life therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, and mindfulness based therapies.

MORE ABOUT MEG...

Originally from Western New York, I transplanted to Utah when I moved to Salt Lake City to attend graduate school - graduating in 2011 with my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Utah. Since then I have worked for many years in inpatient psychiatric services, with the University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute and Alaska Psychiatric Institute. I am passionate about supporting individuals and families in mental and emotional health - and have been in private practice since 2017. I love my work and am honored to witness the vulnerability, growth, and strength of my clients over time. In the spring of 2020 I moved back to the WNY area to live closer to my family. Outside of my work, I enjoy traveling, reading, yoga, cooking, walking in the woods, boating, horseback riding, and taking hikes and camping trips with friends and family. I have three young children, two Labradors, and a husband who also works in the field of mental health.
